A Gen Z slang term describing someone who is effortlessly cool, confident, and stylish; a blend of 'chill' and 'buzz.'

Chuzz is the word you use when “cool” feels too basic. It’s that specific energy of someone who looks like they just stepped out of a TikTok fit check without trying. The word itself is a mashup — “chill” plus “buzz” — and it landed in Gen Z vocabulary somewhere around 2024, mostly through UK TikTok before jumping the Atlantic.

I first saw it under a video where a guy walked into a corner store wearing a vintage leather jacket and sunglasses at 10pm. The top comment was simply “chuzz.” No explanation needed. Everyone got it. That’s the whole point. If you have to explain why someone’s chuzz, they probably aren’t.

How to use chuzz without sounding like a bot

Chuzz works as an adjective, always. “He’s chuzz.” “That fit is chuzz.” You don’t say “chuzzy” or “chuzzing.” The word is stubbornly flat, which is part of the appeal.

Tone matters. Say it about yourself and you immediately aren’t. It’s a label other people give you, like “main character energy” but quieter. You’ll see it in the comments of any video where someone’s outfit, walk, or general presence just hits right. It’s never about loud flexing. The chuzziest people on my FYP are the ones standing still in a subway station, staring at the camera like it owes them money.

There’s a regional split too. UK creators use it more naturally. It started in London street slang circles before TikTok amplified it. American adopters sometimes force it, adding way too much enthusiasm. “Bro that’s so CHUZZ!!!” misses entirely. Whisper it or don’t say it.

Chuzz in the wild

@unknownuser: the way he just lit a cigarette and checked his phone. chuzz.

“my neighbor walks his cat on a leash at midnight. no explanation. just chuzz.”

@styleaccount: this thrifted blazer + cargo combo is giving full chuzz. no notes.

Drip — similar vibe but more about the outfit than the presence. Vibe — overlaps when chuzz is about atmosphere, but chuzz is person-specific. Flex — the opposite energy; chuzz is effortless, flex is intentional.
