Sendy is the word you use when someone commits to something reckless with zero hesitation. It started in extreme sports, where skiers and snowboarders would yell “send it” before launching off a cliff. Over time it got compressed into an adjective. Now a risky play in a video game is sendy. Quitting your job to travel is sendy. Eating an entire pizza by yourself is, apparently, also sendy.
I first saw it in a mountain bike video from late 2024 where a rider hit a jump that was clearly too big for his skill level. He crashed spectacularly. The top comment was “that was sendy” with a fire emoji. Not “brave,” not “stupid,” just sendy. The word somehow contains both meanings at once. That’s its power.
How to use sendy without sounding like a bot
Sendy is always a compliment, but the compliment is complicated. It praises the commitment, not necessarily the outcome. “That was sendy” after a failed trick means “I respect the attempt.” After a successful one, it means “I respect the nerve.”
You don’t use it for small risks. Ordering a new coffee flavor is not sendy. Base jumping is. The scale matters. You’ll see it in comments under extreme sports clips, bold fashion choices, and occasionally under life decisions that make everyone in the comments nervous. “Just moved to a new city with no job lined up.” “Sendy.” The word replaces an entire sentence of mixed admiration and concern.
There’s a sarcastic usage too. When someone does something obviously dumb and calls it bold, “sendy” becomes a gentle roast. “Decided to cut my own bangs.” “Sendy.” The fire emoji is optional but recommended.

DO: Use it for genuine physical risk, bold creative choices, or major life leaps. DON’T: Use it for someone’s genuine pain or financial ruin. “Lost my savings on crypto” is not a sendy moment. DO: Pair it with π₯ or π¬ depending on whether you admire or fear the choice. DON’T: Use it in formal emails. Your boss does not want to hear that your project proposal is “sendy.”
